Capital Aikikai is located just south of downtown Silver Spring, MD. Public transportation is available via Montgomery County Ride-On bus and Metro (see the "From Silver Spring Metro" section below).

The city's major intersection is Georgia Ave. and Colesville Rd. The dojo is a 10-minute walk from the Silver Spring Metro station.

• Take I-270 south until it forks for the beltway (I-495). Take the left-hand fork, "Baltimore and Silver Spring."
• Continue on I-495 past the Wisconsin Ave. and Connecticut Ave. exits. Take the next exit, Georgia Ave. (MD 97) South.
• Coming off the exit ramp, continue on Georgia Ave. through downtown Silver Spring (about 3 miles). Sometime after the Colesville Rd. (MD 29) intersection, get in the left lane. After about 1/2 mile look left for Sligo Avenue, and a sign for MD410 (East-West Hwy.).
• Just before a large blue railroad bridge, turn left onto Sligo Ave. (you will see a small traffic sign in the median, for MD 410).
• Continue on Sligo until the first light. You will see a bus station on the left, and a 7-11 directly ahead. Turn right onto Fenton Ave. Continue on Fenton until it comes to a T at Philadelphia Ave. (East-West Hwy., MD 410). The street sign also says Burlington Ave.
• Turn right onto Philadelphia/Burlington, go uphill (about 1/8 mi) and look for Selim Road on the right, at the top of the hill. (If you cross the railroad tracks you've gone too far).
• Turn onto Selim. Capital Aikikai is about halfway down the street, on the right (look for the blue door, no. 945).

Baltimore-Washington and Reagan National are the closest airports. Dulles, in northern Virginia, is the farthest local airport.

• From National you can walk directly from the terminal to the Metro station. Follow the signs in the main terminal. Get on the Metro Yellow Line to Gallery Place. At Gallery Place, switch to the Red Line (upstairs) and take the train to Silver Spring Station (toward Glenmont).

Follow the directions below to walk or take a bus from the Silver Spring station.

• Generally, BWI will have the cheapest airfares, but expect to add about $35 for a shuttle to Silver Spring. Alternatively, you can take a train from BWI: at the terminal, take the free shuttle bus to the BWI train station (about a mile away). From there, take the MARC commuter train to Washington Union Station (about $6). At Union Station, take the Metro Red Line to Silver Spring Station. • From Dulles (in Virginia), you will have to take a taxi or airport shuttle to Silver Spring — about $40.

The dojo is a 10-minute walk from the Silver Spring Metro station. Generally, this is the easiest way to go.

Alternatively, you can take a taxi or the No. 17 Ride-On bus to the dojo. If taking the bus, ask the driver to let you off at the intersection of Fenton St. and Philadephia Ave. (East-West Hwy.). Turn right and walk uphill on Philadelphia/Burlington toward the railroad tracks. At the top of the hill, turn right onto Selim Rd. Walk downhill and look for Capital on the right (blue door, no. 945).
