Taking the Montgomery County Ride-On bus from the Twinbrook Metro station will probably be your fastest public transit route to the seminar (about ten minutes less walking time). Once you board the bus it will be less than a ten-minute ride to the Georgetown Prep campus. Please be sure to download and check the Route 46 timetable ahead of time.

Montgomery County Ride-On Bus/Walking

1. From the Hilton hotel, walk to the Twinbrook Metro station: Go out the back entrance of the hotel and cross Chapman Ave. Cross the narrow plaza between two Metro station parking lots and you will see the station entrance.

   Please note that the bus platforms are on the opposite side of the tracks from the hotel. After entering the station, take the foot tunnel underneath the tracks to the bus area. The stationmaster will be glad to provide any assistance you might need.

2. Find the Ride-On (not Metrobus) platform for the Route 46 bus heading south, toward Medical Center station (you will get off before that). If you're not sure, go to the station manager's kiosk in the station and ask. [click for a Route 46 timetable and map]
3. The bus fare will be $1.25; bills and coins are both accepted, but the drivers cannot make change. Tell the bus driver that you're not from the area and that you'd like to get off at Strathmore Ave. On the Ride-On timetable, this will be midway between the White Flint and Grosvenor stops.

   Note that when you are returning you will have to cross Strathmore Ave. to the northbound side of Rockville Pike. Your Route 46 bus will be heading toward Montgomery College/Shady Grove.

4. Walk into the campus. Bearing left at the split in the road, walk toward the main building, Roland Hall. You can either cut through the grounds to the field house (on the opposite side of the quadrangle behind Roland Hall), or continue following the road to the Hanley Athletic Center (the field house will be to the right of the Hanley center. Metro/Walking

2. Once in the station, purchase a farecard at one of the machines. Your destination will be the Grosvenor-Strathmore station -- two stops south on the Red line. Be sure to include fare for your return trip as well.
3. Insert your card into the gate and take the escalator down to the tracks. Make sure you are on the correct side of the platform. Consult the pylons on the platform.
4. At Grosvenor, exit the station and take the pedestrian tunnel to the west (southbound) side of Rockville Pike.
5. Walk north on Rockville Pike for about a half-mile. You will see the Georgetown Prep golf course on your left. [click for map]
6. Turn left into the campus (traffic light at Strathmore Ave.), and bear left at the split in the road, walking toward the main building, Roland Hall.
